"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

My favorite passage. I prayed for wisdom. The moral is to be careful what you ask for. Ah, but what a wonderful world!

ps You have out cuted me x 2. What handsome lads! I am surprized you have the time to even read my nonsense. Is that a F-111 behind you? Mach 2.5 machine.

5-10 mins a day on this board isnt too bad

sermon on the mount give me slight shivers each time I read the quotes.
I have to admit I've only gone to church service at most 5 times my entire life..
who knew I'd end up quoting Christian scripture
truth found right under our noses

.. its the F-14 Tomcat (mach 2.2 machine) .. I dont believe any are left in service.
..aboard the USS Intrepid.
Had you served aboard her decks during Vietnam?

Also having 8 yo twin Grandsons I am impressed with even 5-10 minutes a day. Those are lucky boys who will grow into fine young men. I am proud for you.

After closer looks I figured it was a Tomcat or Eagle. I am not sure if we even have F 111's anymore. They couldn't out manuver a MIG but would leave them in the dust. The closest I was to a carrier was watching - the Kennedy or Big E, I forget- push copters and misc. birds off the decks into the Bay of Siam. I helped turn out the lights on Viet Nam. Fall of Siagon, Phenom Phen, Miaguez incidnt, Baby Lift and the Killing Fields. The day Da Nang fell we had the whole RSVN airforce unexpectedly come across radar and land at U-Tapao. A bird would land and we would disarm it and paint the tail before anyone could even come off. If an old cargo plan could hold 50 people they would pack it with 300. We ended up keeping the good stuff and tossed the rest into Davy Jones' locker. Several good stories to come out of that time, but what a human tragedy. The Khmer people were so great and suffered so much under Pol Pot's insanity.

As to Christianity, trust me on this, you have a better understanding of the teaching than 99% of the people who regularly attend. Truth can only be truth. The various expresssions resonate differently that's all. What feels right is right. Just follow that feeling back to its silent source. There is no need for analysis, years of study, or anything more than following the feeling in your heart back to whence it originated from. What can be simpler than this?

Vietnam must have been some intense experience indeed. Definitely some interesting talk one day over some beers. Was quite the student of history much of it military in my younger years so I think I could hold my own. My neighbor growing up was an old man who fought in Patton's 3rd army as a tank commander in the Battle of the Bulge. Was it wrong to be a soldier whose job was to kill another? Was it wrong to stand up for duty risking everything in your life with the intent to right the wrongs of the world? Cant fault him for that.

Had a re-revelation last night as if things forgotten had to be reminded again.
All is as it is supposed to be..
"BEHOLD! GOD'S CREATION IS A MASTERPIECE .. and perfect in every way!"
The Lord lets fly an arrow and in flight a hundred targets are struck.

All is as it is supposed to be..

As far as revelations go, this is one of the biggies.

This was perhaps the most surprizing. It certainly is the hardest for the mind to grasp, if indeed the mind can grasp it at all.

War, pestilence, crime. disease, cruelty......it is still all OK. Everything is perfect as it is and always will be. It is all OK.

I think Bankei was more succient; "All is resolved in the Unborn." I will take a bit back. The mind can NEVER make sense of this. This truth has to be experienced.

I am not too shabby on history myself BTW.

My uncle was with the 82nd during the Bulge. He suffered from what we know know as PTSD afterwards. Of course then it was 'shell shock'.

I will tell you the most amazing thing relating to this. One of my buddy's father was with Patton the whole way. He showed me his Dad's mess pot -that kidney shaped pot they used for cooking and everything else. His Dad had engraved the name of every place he had been. The thing was COVERED with names. Truely remarkable.

As to the warrior's ethics: All questions disappear the first time you realize someone is shooting at you with the intent to kill you. It becomes mighty personal then!

Not to close on such a note of war. Jesus also said "I will make all things New." This too, is within our realm of experience.

Hope the weather drys up a bit for you.

Used to love all things war.. nowadays NOT. Herds led by their ideals to be instruments of sacrifice by others. Not for me anymore.

yes and history is a good teacher for the student interested, the cyclical occurances of history repeats over and over with slightly changing conditions and different faces or actors across cultures as time and progress slowly advances.. 3 steps forward 2 steps back

ALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE
and here's another ..
the EGO.. meant to be.. designed to BE
the fact most beings are asleep.. is OK .. its all as its supposed to be
dont push it, all water flows downhill wayward to the ocean
all things in due time..

sense of sacred peace with all colors of the rainbow swirling.. all is as its supposed to be.. be at peace.. BE and ENJOY

many stress out over the state of the human condition.. its a transient condition
gravity of change pulls the herd towards God.. all in due time
its a done deal.. all meant to be

:)

enjoy wet weather as well as snow and relentless sun..would experience be without constant change? a bit boring dont ya think?

I'm in the Ozarks. There is no such thing as boring weather here. Tornado season is right around the corner, along with spring floods. I was talking to a Lady once who moved here from Wyo. She said she was told when she moved here she would see all 4 seasons. She said what they didn't tell her was she would see them all in the same week.

IMO the ego is a neccessity. It isn't a problem unless you take it seriously. It will die with the body, so if you identify with it more than, say the coat you wear, then it's a problem. You certainly can like it, and it is best you do. I have an old green coat I love, but when its shot its shot.

All things in good time? If not now then when? It is always now, so this lifetime is fine. I know what you mean tho, and really there is no need for great effort (coming from some one who has made great effort). I compared this business to pushing a big snowball down a shallow slope, and I'll stand pat on that. At first great effort to get it going, then only minor steering :P

Enlightenment is a done deal....but it can take a long, long time. There is also the force of evolution. I don't push the river, but I can paddle a bit when it suits me.

Stay dry,

Time is illusory.. in due time .. all things in good time .. long long time .. poetic rhetoric. Our lives a blink of an eye (not even) to Vishnu's out breath. Its a done deal.

Einstein on relative time:

A minute watching a pretty girl is fleeting,
A minute sitting on a hot stove is an eternity.

Time is an illusion in that it does not exist as an objective reality. This is proven easily enough as it is alway 'right now'. It does exist as a psychological reference point for the language based 'mind'. Simply, no thought, no time.

Of course going deeper, there is no objective reality period. All is a matter of perspective or point of view. Samsara is Nirvana is Samsara is Nirvana. Is a mirage real or unreal? It depends. Does time exist? It depends. Does the ego exist? It depends. Am I a butterfly dreaming I'm a man? It depends.

How entertaining this all is!
